Welcome to Stevie’s World

Stevie is curious.

He notices things. He asks questions. Sometimes he gets things wrong. Sometimes he asks questions that don't have easy answers.

And that's rather the point.

The Stevie Snickerdoodle stories are adventures first. Along the way, they open doors into the natural world, encourage children to look more closely at the animals around them, and invite them to wonder about the world they share with us.

The website extends that journey through Field Journals, Explorer Challenges and the Explorer Club.

There is no need to follow a particular order. Children can simply explore, discover something that catches their attention and see where it leads.

For Parents

Stevie's adventures are designed to be enjoyed together—or discovered independently.

The Field Journals take children a little further into the animal worlds they encounter in Stevie's stories. There are facts to discover, observations to make, questions to consider and challenges to try.

You don't need to be an expert.

In fact, sometimes the best thing you can do is wonder along with them.

Ask:

What do you notice?

What would you like to know?

What do you think might happen?

A child's question can be the beginning of a very good adventure.

For Teachers

Stevie's world can be used as a starting point for exploration across many areas of learning.

A Field Journal might lead to a conversation about an animal's habitat, a research question, a piece of creative writing, an observation exercise, a drawing, a discussion about behaviour—or simply a closer look at the natural world.

The material is deliberately open-ended.

There isn't always one answer.

The aim is to encourage children to notice, question, investigate and think for themselves.

For Libraries

Stevie's books are written to encourage children to read, wonder and discover.

The online Field Journals extend the reading experience beyond the page, offering children another way to explore the animals and ideas encountered in the stories.

For libraries, Stevie can provide a gentle bridge between reading, discovery and curiosity about the natural world.

A child may arrive because they enjoyed a story.

They may leave wanting to know something they didn't know before.

That's a good beginning.

Meet Stevie

Stevie is a boy who likes to look a little closer.

He is curious about animals, fascinated by the natural world and always ready to ask a question—sometimes before anyone else has thought of it.

He doesn't know everything.

That's what makes exploring so much fun.

Through his adventures, Stevie discovers that the natural world is full of surprises—and that animals have plenty to teach us about the way we live, think and care for one another.
